A birthday and then Valentines Day.....

Happy Birthday to this tall handsome boy.  Went to Baton Rouge where he could dine on one of his favourite foods..........ribs!!!

The next day.........Valentine's Day!  How lucky can a girl get?  Two great days in a row.
Received these from a special little man and a tall handsome man......yep and they were delivered at work.  The whole going down to the guard's desk, picking up said huge box, and then walking the 2 kms back to my office!!!!
The end result is nothing short of beautiful!!  Who needs roses when you can get gerbera daisies!!!

A Murder of.....

This is becoming a common sight in the early morning! and what a noise!
It's almost eerie with so many of them congregating at the same place.

The three personal greeters at chez Opa and Nannie's

For the past day and a half, these three personal greeters have been taking their jobs very seriously.....

OLW for 2012

I have been mulling over what my word for 2012 will be.

For this past year, my word was badassery and I feel I lived my year with that word quite well.
Badassery - Engaging in seemingly impossible activities and achieving success in a manner that renders all onlookers completely awestruck.
* Someone who isn't afraid to wish good things for herself. Someone who believes she's worthy of being happy.
* Someone who isn't afraid to make goals, and then once those goals are made, isn't afraid of taking those first, tiny steps toward achieving those goals.
* Someone who realizes that taking care of herself isn't selfish or egotistical, but that sometimes you have to put the oxygen mask on first before you start helping others.
* Someone who realizes that at her core, she's a good person. And that given this, when she makes a mistake, maybe she should go easy on herself.
* Someone who, when bad things happen (and make no mistake, they will happen), will not spend valuable time thinking about who did her wrong, or why the world is conspiring against her, but will instead spend that time working through it by taking care of herself, leaning on friends as necessary, asking for help when needed, and treating herself as she would a good friend going through a similar situation. Someone who, when life knocks her down, does what she can to pick herself up, dust herself off, and try, try again.
* Someone who makes kindness to friends, people around her (like waiters and others in the service industry), and even strangers her primary focus; and who also takes care to surround herself and cultivate relationships with good friends who have equal focus. Someone who is never afraid to speak her mind or her truth, but always does so with kindness.
*And finally (and probably most predictably), someone who works hard at reframing the things that make her different, recognizing them as attributes that are sources of great beauty, and when used for good, maybe even superpowers.

So far I have narrowed my 2012 OLW down to 3 words; nourish, moderation, and lighten.
All three are speaking to me in one way or another - who knows, I may just end up with choosing all 3!!!
Stay tuned!

Torrential downpour = street flood

First time in 10 years that we experienced something like this!

Left the house at noon to go have lunch with Big Daddy, sun was shining, and the windows wide open.
Driving home 2 hours later, in a torrential downpour complete with thunder and lightening.
Marlo's bed and toys in our room were soaked but other than that, all was well.  Thank god.

Garbage day delayed one day but there's always one on the street who doesn't pay attention, therefore, we having floating rubbish as well.

Notice how the drains are so much higher than the street.  The guy who designed the street, can't say he graduated top of his class can we?

Oh here comes someone.  Good thing I'm hiding in the garage, wouldn't want them to see me taking photos!!

Oh good lord, it's Fred, our neighbour!!!  Look how high the water is!!!

Here comes the 'Princess and daughter Princess' (was that mean?).  We'll save that story for another day.  Can you guess what happens next?

Yep, you guessed it!  Car stalls in the middle of the 'lake'.  And....she opens her doors.....

Two hours later the flood has decipitated and the BMW removed.

Day 4 - Charlottetown

Spent the day in Charlottetown.  Found a Scrapbook store there and it happens to be owned by someone whom I recognized from CE a couple of years ago!  We ate lunch at Fishbones and then walked down to the waterfront to see the sights, shops and listen to some music on the grass.
Highlights of the day:

Lunch at Fishbones on Victoria Row:

Lou got into a heated discussion with Sir John A. MacDonald (something about slaves.......?)!!!

Going Deep

Sea fishing!!!!  Lou wanted that as the title!!
Beautiful day, the ocean was like a mirror, sun hot!
Caught lots of mackeral.  Some for bait, some to take home with us.
Caught cod - Al and Lou had a great time, fishing for the fish of 'their people'.
Some pictures to remember the day:
